Exhibition "The History of Owari" (Second Floor) |
|
The exhibition is divided into 16 thematic sections showing various historical
aspects of the Owari region from the primitive to the modern age. Exhibits include
artefacts, ceramics, Buddhist figurines, weapons, armor, documents, articles of
every day use seen as folk art and so on.
Articles and documents in the section dealing with the theme of the Culture of
Owari in the Edo era are periodically replaced with those new to the museum's
visitors.
Exhibitions of specimens found in the Owari region are also periodically alternated
in the so-called Free Room.

Several times a year different exhibitions based on a particular theme are
held. The exhibits could be from the categoreies of archeology , history, fine
arts or folklore and be representative of noto only the Owari region but also
of other areas of Japan as well as foreign countries.

Visitors can freely touch the exhibits in the room for close observation.

| The Video Museum

More than 70 viseos, all produced at the museum, are available for viewing
free of charge. Free reference information to all Japanese museum is also available.

| Auditorium
(Basement) |

Lectures and film showings sponsored by the Nagoya City Museum are held in
the auditorium.
It is also available for citizens to use for films and lectures.

The gallery is available for citizens who wish to hold their own exhibition.
